East West Cup 2004
With only 43 days to go before the second East/West Cup, both the tension and the numbers are mounting. We will have 24 players competing, 10 more than last year.

The East have been going about their preparations meticulously, Kirbs was seen coming out of McGuirks with a new Stimp Metre (the XR03 model) which can read the speed of a green to an accuracy of 98%. Preparation in the West is also coming along nicely now that Kerno has stopped flexing the shafts in his irons.

As for me, having been well beaten by Dunc Rogers last year, I decided it was time to try some new. So last February I went out and bought a new set of irons but still felt I was lacking something. It was then I decided to take a different approach and get myself something out of the ordinary. It wasn't the newest driver or the latest 2-ball putter, what I got was the 'Minerva'. Taylor made for my body; it kept my head and neck in the perfect position. For three months I religiously wore this piece of equipment (I even took it to bed with me) and as sure as a puma is killing sheep in Monaghan, it worked. Never again will my head be out of synch. There were times when I was sorry I ever got it but I knew it would be worthwhile in the end.

Looking forward to a good weekend.
